Invisalign Brisbane

Woman holding tray of Invisalign in BrisbaneThe Edward St Dental Team knows how important a beautiful smile is to our patients, so we offer Invisalign® for straighter teeth. We’ve seen how misaligned teeth, gaps and overlaps can cause people to hide their teeth from the world. Feeling self-conscious about your smile can impact relationships with friends, family and co-workers.

We don’t want patients to feel embarrassed by their smiles, so our Brisbane Invisalign dentists can help you choose the most effective ways to straighten your teeth.

How Invisalign Plastic Aligners Work

Invisalign has many advantages over traditional metal braces. Clear aligners are made from a unique polymer blend that is less irritating than metal and wires. You can remove your Invisalign trays when you eat, brush, and floss, allowing you to enjoy your favourite foods and maintain your oral hygiene routine.

Patients near Brisbane also choose clear aligners because they blend with your teeth and are virtually invisible. A discreet appearance makes Invisalign popular with older teens and adults who are concerned about bulky brackets and wires.

Benefits of Clear Aligners

Clear aligners have many benefits.

Virtually Invisible

Clear aligners are virtually invisible, meaning they're a discreet solution to correcting misalignments.

Convenient and Removable

Clear aligners are convenient and removable, so you can eat and practice oral hygiene without restrictions.

Comfortable

Clear aligners are made from smooth plastic, so you don't have to worry about irritation from metal wires or brackets like with traditional braces.

Frequently Asked Questions

Patients who choose the Invisalign treatment system should be aware of the essential factors that will impact the outdone. You will wear your aligners daily for at least 20-22 hours, seven days per week.

Wear Invisalign Regularly

Invisalign works by continuously moving your teeth when you wear your aligners. If you wear your aligners part-time, they will fit less well over time. This could increase your treatment time, and your aligners will be less comfortable. In addition, other people may notice your aligners more if they don't fit as well.

If you repeatedly don't wear your aligners, especially for days at a time, your treatment could break down. Where aligners stop fitting as designed, we may need to rescan your teeth and order new aligners. If you need additional aligners in this situation, you may have to pay an accompanying cost.

Invisalign Treatment Length in Brisbane Can Vary

Most Invisalign patients complete treatment between 6-12 months. What determines your length of treatment is the amount your teeth should move to reach your smile goals. If your teeth require more complex movements, your Invisalign treatment will take longer.

Invisalign treatment can be as little as seven weeks and up to 18 months or more. For more details on how this treatment can help you, please call our Brisbane dental clinic on (07) 3221 5855 to arrange an Invisalign consultation.

Invisalign® is an alternative to traditional orthodontics, which work through metal brackets and wire braces that move teeth through the force your orthodontist creates when tightening the wires. While Invisalign still physically manipulates teeth, it works through a series of clear aligners that we plan and design to complement your particular teeth alignment challenges.

Invisalign Digital Planning Provides Clear Timeframes

Your individual situation influences the length of your Invisalign treatment time, but the process in most cases ranges from 12 to 15 months. One advantage is that our Brisbane dental team provides a complete exam and consultation so we can accommodate your smile goals. In addition, we use leading-edge imaging technology to create precise, high-resolution scans of your teeth so that we can simulate your treatment and predict your results.

From these digital plans, an Invisalign lab will fabricate a series of aligner trays that you wear for approximately two weeks. Because we know the number of aligners in your treatment plan, we can estimate the total time for treatment with great accuracy. We also recommend that your treatment be safeguarded with a retainer, especially in the first few years after treatment. A retainer keeps your teeth from reverting to their previous positions and helps establish them to keep your new smile intact.

Book a Consultation with Your Invisalign® Dentist in Brisbane CBD

Whether you would like more information about Invisalign in Brisbane, or you are ready to book your consultation with our dentist, Edward St Dental welcomes your call on (07) 3221 5855

Edward St Dental offers Invisalign treatment for patients local to Brisbane CBD, as well as surrounding areas like New Farm, Fortitude Valley, Red Hill, Woolloongabba, and beyond.

Invisalign clear aligners are made specifically for your mouth; they fit snugly over your teeth to gently move them into a straighter position over the course of several months. Because Invisalign aligners are transparent, they are practically invisible, so others will barely notice you are wearing them.

In addition to how discreet they are, Invisalign aligners are also considered by many to be a better option over traditional braces because they don’t have wires or brackets that can poke your lips and gums, making them more comfortable. You can also remove Invisalign aligners to eat, drink, brush and floss so that you won’t miss out on your favourite foods, and your oral hygiene will be easier to maintain.

The Invisalign system uses clear, removable aligners on top and bottom teeth to gently move them into a more desirable position. When you initiate the treatment, your Edward St Dental professional will take measurements of your teeth, so each aligner tray fits correctly and comfortably.

Who May Be a Candidate for Invisalign in Brisbane?

Several dental conditions can be corrected with Invisalign technology, so if you have one or more of these conditions, you could be a candidate for Invisalign:

  • Overbite
  • Underbite
  • Crossbite
  • Open bite
  • Crowded teeth
  • Teeth gaps

How Will Invisalign Straighten My Teeth?

Once you and your dentist have agreed upon your treatment plan, an Invisalign laboratory will create your unique set of aligners that will gradually take you from your teeth’s current position to their straightened position at the end of your treatment.

Your dentist will require you to wear your clear aligners for twenty-two hours a day, only removing them to eat, drink, brush and floss. You will change aligners approximately every two weeks, with each one shifting your teeth toward your goal.

You will remove your Invisalign aligners every few weeks and put in a new set. You will repeat this process until your treatment is complete. Each set of Invisalign aligners is specifically designed to move certain teeth at certain times by applying gentle pressure in specific areas. The results will be noticeable each time you change your aligners.

How Long Does Invisalign Treatment Take?

Each person’s dental situation is different, so there isn’t one definitive answer regarding how long your Invisalign treatment will take. The average treatment time is from twelve to eighteen months, but some patients only require a six-month treatment plan, while others require twenty-four months or more. Your dental professional will be able to give you a better idea of your specific circumstances. The different factors that determine treatment time are as follows:

  • How much movement your teeth need to make
  • How quickly your teeth move
  • How complex your case is, and how many dental concerns are being corrected
  • How diligent you are about wearing your aligners as much as you are should

Clear Aligners Need to Fit Right

Fit is important for any orthodontic appliance that you wear continuously. That's because the aligners work most efficiently when the light force applied is as continuous as possible. This means you must wear your aligners full-time to achieve the outcome we have specifically designed for you.

Maintain Regular Visits with Our Dentists in Brisbane

For our patients in Brisbane and the surrounding areas, we recommend a check-up and clean appointment every six months throughout your Invisalign treatment. We will also offer an aligner review appointment, an orthodontic review appointment, which is not a comprehensive assessment of your oral health.

In addition, we offer a 10 per cent discount on your check-up and teeth clean appointments during your treatment. We also will provide each patient with wear and care guidelines for their clear aligners so they know how to use, clean and maintain their treatment progress.

Correcting Dental Issues with Invisalign

The Invisalign system can address many orthodontic challenges, among them being:

  • Overbite – When your upper jaw extends such that your upper teeth protrude past your lower teeth, Invisalign aligners gradually move your lower jaw forward.
  • Underbite – The opposite of overbite, this occurs when your lower teeth are in front of your upper teeth when you close your mouth.
  • Crossbite – Invisalign can correct some cases when your upper teeth stick out in front of your lower teeth.
  • Open Bite – If your mouth is closed, but your upper and lower front teeth don’t come together enough to touch, Invisalign can fix this issue.
  • Teeth Gaps – When your teeth have more space between them than they should, Invisalign can help.
  • Crowded Teeth – Invisalign is up to the challenge if your teeth are bunched up or overlapped.
  • Minor Misalignments – Any combination of crowding and bite issues can contribute to misalignments, which Invisalign may be able to correct.

The First Step in Invisalign Treatment

The first step in Invisalign treatment is an oral assessment at our dental practice. The Edward St Dental professionals will examine your teeth to ensure you are a good candidate for clear aligners.

Then, we will measure your mouth and teeth to create a treatment plan to help you achieve your smile goals. This consultation is also where we can determine details like treatment length and the cost of Invisalign.

Depending on the complexity of your orthodontic needs, Invisalign treatment length and cost will vary.

More complicated treatments may require additional appliances and sets of aligners, and a post-treatment retainer could be necessary to keep your teeth in position.

If you're a candidate for clear aligners, it’s essential to follow our recommendations and wear them for the recommended amount of time; this can shorten your treatment time and give you the smile you’ve always wanted in less time.

Our dental team will discuss your costs and estimated treatment time during your initial consultation.

How Long Do Invisalign Results Last?

When you complete your treatment, you’ll need to support your teeth with a retainer to keep them properly aligned. You’ll wear your retainer while you sleep to help your teeth stay in place. Retainer use is necessary for most adults, and if you participate in sports, we recommend a mouthguard.

Once your treatment is complete, you may notice other dental issues you’d like to address. If your teeth are discoloured, chipped or damaged, Dr Pulvinenti’s team can offer multiple treatment options to improve your smile’s appearance. For example, we can correct surface flaws with lab-made porcelain restorations like dental veneers, inlays and crowns.

You can also take advantage of our professional whitening treatments. Our in-office whitening system uses concentrated whitening agents shown to whiten teeth up to eight shades in one treatment. Edward St Dental features a whitening specialist who can help you decide if teeth whitening is the best choice.

The Invisalign Treatment Process at Edward St Dental

From the data gathered during your initial visit, a specialised lab will produce several aligners customised to your mouth. You will begin the first aligner in the series, wearing them based on Dr Pulvirenti’s recommendations:

Group of friends smiling outside at Mowbray Park in Brisbane

  • Wear your aligner 20-22 hours per day.
  • Change to the next aligner after about 2-3 weeks.
  • Remove your aligner for eating, drinking, brushing and flossing.
  • Maintain periodic check-ups to ensure your treatment effectiveness.

You will see first-hand progress as Invisalign slowly moves your teeth into their desired positions. Your aligners should fit well, but Dr Matthew Pulvirenti could augment them with small restorations, which will help them shift into their final location and alignment. Then, you only need to wear them as recommended and watch your new smile emerge.
