If you think about what gives someone a beautiful smile, you will likely say that it’s a person with straight, evenly-spaced, white teeth, right? You may think that a beautiful smile isn’t within your reach, but the dental professionals at Edward St Dental want to take your smile and try to improve it through cosmetic dentistry services.

What Is the Difference Between Cosmetic Dentistry and General Dentistry?

Cosmetic dentistry focuses on making your smile look better, while general dentistry focuses on preventive measures to restore your teeth and keep them healthy. These preventative measures include services such as dental cleanings, fillings, crowns and bridges. Both types of dentistry have their place, and a combination of the two types may help you get the smile you want and deserve.

Are You a Candidate for Cosmetic Dentistry?

If you have any of the following dental concerns, you may be able to improve your smile through cosmetic dentistry in Brisbane:

  • Gaps in your teeth
  • Spaces in your teeth
  • Misshapen teeth
  • Misaligned teeth
  • Chipped or cracked teeth
  • Stained or discoloured teeth

Don’t let these issues keep you from achieving the aesthetically pleasing smile you deserve.

What Cosmetic Dentistry Services Does Edward St Dental Offer?

Our dental clinic offers a wide range of cosmetic dentistry services to help you achieve a brighter, more beautiful smile. Our services include the following:

  • Porcelain veneers – This cosmetic procedure entails taking a thin layer of porcelain and bonding it to the front of one or more teeth. When your natural tooth is structurally sound but has chips, cracks or is discoloured, veneers are a great way to change the look of your teeth while strengthening your existing teeth.
  • Porcelain inlays – If you have a damaged tooth but don’t require a dental crown, a porcelain inlay may be your best option. A porcelain inlay goes into your tooth instead of on top of your tooth like a crown, so less of your natural tooth has to be removed. Inlays can both restore a tooth and make it look better.
  • Dental crowns – Dental crowns are like a cap that completely covers your natural tooth. If your tooth has sustained a great deal of damage or cannot be fixed with a filling, a crown can protect and support it. Fortunately, Edward St Dental offers CEREC same-day crowns, so you can make one visit to our clinic and be ready to go.
  • Dental implants – Sometimes, your natural tooth cannot be preserved, so in this case, we may recommend a dental implant. The dental implant procedure involves placing a post into your jaw and then later attaching a connector, known as an abutment, to the post. The final step of the dental implant procedure involves adding a dental crown or bridge to the abutment. This will give your smile a natural look.
  • Professional teeth whitening – All of the above cosmetic services will give your teeth a brighter look, but if your teeth are healthy and don’t require veneers, inlays, crowns or implants, professional teeth whitening may be a good option for you. We offer three different types of teeth whitening to fit your needs, so you can decide which one of our in-house or at-home systems is best for you.
