Transforming Smiles

Porcelain Veneers Brisbane CBD Dentists

Veneers are an ideal cosmetic solution for everyone who desires a beautiful smile with minimal invasions into their teeth. We can improve your facial appearance and boost your confidence with dental veneers by hiding your natural teeth behind a very thin layer of porcelain. Veneers can be used to change the shape, size, colour and symmetry of your teeth and smile.

Porcelain Dental Veneers

Porcelain veneers provide a highly aesthetic cosmetic dentistry solution where the strength of the underlying tooth is already sound. They generally cover the facial surface of teeth. On a single tooth, a porcelain veneer is used instead of a crown when aesthetics alone is the treatment objective.

Porcelain Veneers are regularly used as a set to cover six to ten teeth, or the amount of teeth that are visible when smiling.

Dental veneers are a popular, low-maintenance choice with very little change required to your existing teeth. You will see an enhanced natural-looking smile and benefit from a strengthened tooth structure when choosing a porcelain restoration.

How to achieve a natural, beautiful looking smile

Porcelain Veneers are very thin shells, made of high quality, translucent porcelain, that are bonded to the front surface of teeth. In the exciting area of cosmetic dentistry, porcelain veneers are placed, as a set, individually, over the teeth that are visible when smiling. This results in a natural, beautiful smile. Usually, it’s impossible to tell if someone has porcelain veneers; they simply appear to have a beautiful, white, even smile.

The main function of porcelain veneers is to aesthetically beautify teeth, the client’s smile and their self esteem. Porcelain veneers reverse the affects of stains, chips, unevenness or other imperfections that can look unsightly, and more importantly, lower the confidence of their owner.

Once in place, with proper care, clients can expect their porcelain veneers to last for decades, providing them with an attractive smile that is appreciated each and every day. Ideal for anyone that desires their teeth to look amazing, porcelain veneers are relatively conservative to the natural teeth, quick to fit and easy to maintain once in place.

What is a dental veneer?

A dental veneer is a wafer thin custom-made tooth-coloured shell that is attached to the front surface of a healthy tooth for aesthetic reasons. The veneer is designed to perform and look just like a normal tooth. The hollow tooth-shaped porcelain crown is cemented into place over your original tooth, or it is used to replace a tooth as part of a dental implant procedure.

The 'veneer' acts like a front cover and sits on the front of the visible portion of your tooth. Porcelain veneers provide a translucent appearance to mimic the natural appearance of teeth and offers the most visually pleasing results for our clients.  The colour, shape and size is meticulously mapped to ensure that the resulting set of porcelain veneers resembles your best natural tooth enamel. At Brisbane CBD Dentists, we want you to feel confident with your smile and our porcelain veneers will offer the most dramatic, natural appearance possible.

What is the purpose of a porcelain veneer?

If you are looking to improve your smile with cosmetic dentistry and have a healthy set of teeth, then porcelain veneers may be the answer you are looking for. Porcelain veneers result in a dramatic improvement to the aesthetics of your smile.

If you are self-conscious about your smile, veneers can correct the following issues where the teeth are otherwise healthy and strong:

  • Discoloured or stained teeth that will not respond to conventional teeth whitening treatments.
  • Minor chips or cracks to teeth, and to replace sections of teeth that have worn away.
  • To lengthen or change the shape.
  • To reshaped teeth that are irregularly shaped
  • To close minor gaps between the teeth
  • To correct teeth that are slightly out of alignment and where it isn’t necessary to have orthodontic treatment.

Porcelain Veneers From Consultation to Placement

Porcelain Veneers Treatment Process

Consultation. During your initial consultation, one of our dentists will listen to the client’s current concerns and their overall goals and “wish list”, and assess their suitability to Porcelain Veneers. In Edward Street Dental’s photo studio, a small series of digital images will be captured. Then the client and dentist will review and discuss the photos together. The dentist will then make a recommendation to the client and draw up a treatment plan.

Digital Smile Design phase. Potentially the most exciting part of the journey. This is a pain free sequence of visits used to design and “test drive” the new smile, before any treatment of the individual teeth begins. A series of photos, video and digital scans are captured to enable the dentist to work with their technicians and design the smile. Click here to learn more about the Digital Smile Design phase. Once the smile design is finalised, it’s time to begin really begin.

Teeth preparation. Porcelain Veneers are minimally invasive, but it’s still usually necessary for the dentist to remove a small amount of tooth enamel from the front surfaces of the client’s teeth. This helps ensure the finished appearance is natural and aesthetically pleasing. Once the teeth have been shaped for the veneers, a digital scan impression is taken (no more traditional impression material) sent via zip file to the dental laboratory for fabrication of the porcelain veneers. The client will leave the appointment with bonded provisional veneers, that are a copy of the new design. This acts as a preview to their new smile while the permanent porcelain veneers are being made.

Final placement. The porcelain veneers are first placed with holding paste, to allow the dentist to do a final assessment. The client is also given the opportunity to assess to give final approval. The veneers are then bonded with permanent resin cement. And the finish line has been reached.

Are Porcelain Veneers Expensive?

Any procedure in dentistry with the word 'porcelain' in front of it is an expensive item. With porcelain veneers, the cosmetic and restorative procedure will result in a smile that will improve your confidence and your appearance. But it is not for everyone. Porcelain veneers is a procedure that requires careful consideration and is recommended to those with good oral hygiene and an appropriate amount of healthy enamel on the tooth's surface.

Porcelain veneers are perfect for clients who have yellowing or grey teeth and teeth whitening procedures have not achieved the white bright smile they are looking for. Veneers can also be the solution where a broken or damaged tooth requires repair and the application of veneers can prevent any further cracks or damage from occurring. Porcelain veneers will improve the appearance of your smile.
